Information we collect

You can browse Falls Atlas without creating an account. We do not ask for your location automatically. The search box lets you type a place name, and that text is used only to show matching results.

Analytics

With your consent, we use the Google tag (gtag.js) to load Google Analytics 4 and understand which pages are useful and how visitors find the site. The tag script loads only after you choose Accept in the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics or Google tag script is requested and no analytics cookie is set.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<id>, which stay on your device for up to two years. The reports are aggregated and are not used to identify you or for advertising. You can install Google's opt-out browser add-on to block Google Analytics on every site.

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under fallsatlas.analytics-consent, not in a tracking cookie. To change your choice, use the Cookie settings link in the footer. It clears the stored choice and any Google Analytics or Google tag cookies, and the banner appears again.

Maps and third parties

Some pages embed a map from OpenStreetMap. Loading a map makes a request to OpenStreetMap's servers, which may see your IP address as part of that request.
